MARITZA CAMARENO

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Maritza Camareno is a designer whose innate talent and passion for design manifested from an early age. At four, she began creating dresses for her Barbie dolls, solidifying her inclination for design under the influence of her mother, a haute couture seamstress. With exceptional drawing and pattern-making skills, by the age of nine, she was already making clothes for herself and her sister using her mother’s sewing machine. This early proficiency in design and tailoring laid the foundation for a remarkably successful career.

Camareno continued her education at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus, where she studied marketing. However, it was her move to the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York that marked the beginning of her professional career. During her time at FIT, she excelled as a standout student, merging technical knowledge with bold creative vision. Her graduation with honors in 1999 in the specialty of women's intimate apparel allowed her to perfect innovative techniques that would later be incorporated into her designs.

Her professional experience at Chaps Ralph Lauren was pivotal in her development, but her true recognition came in 2001 when she returned to Puerto Rico to establish herself as a prominent figure in the luxury and haute couture world. Back in her homeland, Camareno immediately captivated local boutiques with her distinctive fit and meticulous attention to detail, forging a reputation for her ability to enhance the female silhouette uniquely and elegantly.

In 2019, Maritza Camareno launched her online platform with a prêt-à-porter line that reflects her commitment to exclusivity and local artisanal craftsmanship. Each piece in her collection is crafted with utmost care, ensuring timeless quality and design.
