Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Maritza Camareno began her sewing career by designing outfits for her Barbie dolls at the young age of 4. Inspired by her mother, a seamstress, Camareno made patterns out of newspaper and by the age 9, while other children were playing, she was designing and making clothes for her and her sister using her mother’s sewing machine.
In the late 1990’s, Maritza began her fashion studies at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York where she graduated with an Associate Degree in Fashion Design.
Remarkably she landed an independent freelance contractor position at one of the prestigious fashion company in New York, Warnaco Inc . That’s where Maritza began to grow and be more knowledgeable and understanding how each garment fit is unique. Maritza gained a lot of experience from working at this company in which inspired Maritza to full fill her long life dream, to create her own business.
In 2001, Camareno returns to Puerto Rico were she began working on her ready-to-wear and haute couture collection, were her label quickly became well-known in local boutiques. In 2019, she launches her e-commerce platform with her limited edition ready-to-wear collection designing and creating everything fb y hand in her beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
Maritza is inspired by real women and loves to incorporate elegance, modernity and rich pops of color into her collections. She is very experimental and not afraid to present clothes that are cut to the curve and with the central themes of femininity. Her technical knowledge of a garment’s proper fit and design, combined with her innate creative abilities, results in an effortless and wearable line that reflect the kind of woman she is herself; strong, sexy, fun, and fearless.
