The Designer

MARITZA CAMARENO

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Maritza Camareno has transformed her lifelong passion for design into a career that celebrates elegance and the empowerment of women. From the age of 4, she began crafting dresses for her Barbie dolls, inspired by her mother, a distinguished haute couture seamstress. By the age of 9, instead of playing, she was designing and sewing clothes for herself and her sister using her mother’s sewing machine.

Maritza initially studied marketing at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus, but her true passion led her to the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where she graduated with honors in 1999. Specializing in women’s intimate apparel, she honed unique techniques that she would later incorporate into her own designs, blending technical expertise with an audacious creative vision.

Her time at Chaps Ralph Lauren provided valuable experience, but it was in 2001, upon returning to Puerto Rico, that she truly began to shine. Establishing herself as a luxury and haute couture designer, Camareno applied her knowledge and innovative techniques to create a distinctive style that accentuates the female silhouette with a unique and experimental approach.

In 2019, Maritza launched her online platform featuring a prêt-à-porter line that stands out for its exclusivity and entirely local production. Her characteristic tailoring has become key to empowering her clients, enhancing their confidence and self-assurance with every design. Camareno has dressed numerous women, including public figures, reflecting strength, allure, and joy in her creations.

With over 25 years of experience in the fashion industry, Maritza Camareno draws inspiration from real women—confident, elegant, and modern. Her experimental approach and technical mastery in garment fitting ensure a line that combines style with ease of wear, embodying the essence of who she is: a strong, attractive, and fearless woman, ready to break barriers and redefine feminine fashion.
